Terms of Service & Return Policy

Welcome to The Codex Key. By using our website, services, and purchasing our physical or digital products, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. Our services are based in and governed by the laws of New Zealand, including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (CGA) and the Fair Trading Act 1986 (FTA).


1. Physical Products (The CryptX and 3D Printed Items)

Product Characteristics:

Our puzzle boxes, such as "The CryptX", are manufactured using 3D printing technology with PLA (polylactic acid) filament. Due to the nature of 3D printing, minor cosmetic imperfections (such as visible layer lines or small surface bumps) are inherent to the process and are not considered manufacturing defects.

Returns and Replacements (New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act):

Under the NZ Consumer Guarantees Act, you are entitled to a replacement or refund if a physical item fails to be of acceptable quality and the failure amounts to a major mechanical malfunction (e.g., the puzzle mechanism is fundamentally broken or unable to be set). If the issue is minor, we reserve the right to repair or replace the item.

Please note that we do not offer refunds if you simply "change your mind" or if you are unable to solve the puzzle. If you believe your CryptX is mechanically defective, please contact us at support@thecodexkey.co.nz within our 14-day warranty window with a description and photos of the fault.


2. Digital Services and Quests

Digital Access:

Once you purchase access to a digital quest, the digital content is consumed immediately. Digital sales are generally final and non-refundable, as the secrets to the puzzle are revealed the moment access is granted.

Account Conduct:

To access quests, you must register via email, Facebook, or Google. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate competitive integrity (such as cheating on leaderboards or sharing solve keys publicly).


3. Shipping and Delivery

We rely on trusted local New Zealand and international couriers. While we aim to dispatch orders promptly, delivery times are estimates. We are not liable for delayed deliveries caused by third-party courier services or international customs processing. If a package is confirmed lost in transit, we will coordinate a replacement.


4. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, The Codex Key is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of our website or products. Your primary remedy under the CGA for defective physical goods remains unaffected.


5. Amendments

We may amend these Terms at any time by posting the updated version on our website. Continued use of our service after changes implies acceptance.
